Neighborhood Spotlight Castle Rock
While it’s experienced a tremendous amount of growth over the past several years, Castle Rock has somehow managed to keep that small-town feel. With a variety of independently owned shops, galleries, and restaurants, along with easy-access to parks and outdoor activities, it’s no wonder this suburb is gaining popularity among Colorado newcomers.
With a population of about 57,000 Castle Rock has a lot to offer, including vast outdoor spaces. The city is surrounded by prairie grassland, rolling hills, and forestland, which makes it the perfect setting for more than 50 miles of trails, 19 developed parks and 5,400 acres of open space.
In more urban settings, there are several exciting developments happening Castle Rock. The city estimates that it will grow to more than 100,000 residents within the next few years, and the official tally for developments either recently completed, under construction or soon to break ground is an impressive $400 million!
One of the biggest developments is Riverwalk at Castle Rock, a $60 million mixed-use development that will include more than 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 30,000 square feet of office space and 228 apartments. The first phase of construction is slated for completion in fall 2018.
Other large developments include Promenade at Castle Rock, a $200 million shopping center, and a $40 million Collaboration Campus that Arapahoe Community College is planning on 14 acres in the Meadows master-planned community.
Lastly, in April 2016, the Castle Rock Town Council approved a public-financing package for a $300 million redevelopment project called Miller's Landing, which will include office, retail, and a hotel, at the northwest corner of Interstate 25 and Plum Creek Parkway.
According to trulia.com, the fantastic amenities you’ll find in Castle Rock do come with a price tag – the median home price for all-size properties in the area is $428,500.
