Image titleFor a variety of reasons, anyone who lives in Denver knows it’s a great place to call home. And we’re not the only ones who think so.  A new ranking by U.S. News & World Report re-confirms the fact that the Mile High City is a fantastic place to live.

This year’s ranking saw Denver taking the number 2 spot, reclaiming the spot from Colorado Springs, which moved from second to third place this year. Last year, Denver was # 3 and in 2017 it was #2.

How the ranking was compiled:
U.S. News analyzed the 125 most populous metro areas and ranked them on multiple factors, including value, market desirability, job market, net migration and quality of life. In addition to public surveys, data was drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and U.S. News' own internal resources.

While Denver has higher-than-average housing costs – as anyone house hunting here will tell you -  that factor was balanced by increases in quality-of-life and desirability scores.

The data was categorized into the five indexes and then evaluated using a methodology determined by Americans' preferences. The percent weighting for each index follows the answers from a public survey in which people from across the country voted for what they believed was the most important thing to consider when thinking about moving.

Indexes include:

  • Job market

  • Value

  • Quality of life

  • Desirability

  • Net Migration

Devon Thorsby, real estate editor at U.S. News & World Report said that Northeastern cities, which are epicenters of higher education and economic development, are not growing nearly as much like places in Florida, California, and Texas. “Plus, they are expensive to live in. Top-ranked places have the characteristics people are looking for, including steady job growth, affordability and a high quality of life,” he said.

With Denver gaining so much attention as a great place to live, you may think finding affordable housing here is a lost cause. But there are actually some great deals to be found if you have the right agent. Contact Metrowest today and let’s check out what Denver has to offer!
